In addition to other projects that may be funded by the Foundation, the trustees have identified specific projects that are of particular interest in meeting the Foundation's mission. These projects include marriage, cemetery and deed records in specific Georgia counties. To determine which projects/counties are of interest to the Foundation, please view the online map.
Marriage Projects
The following Georgia counties, created before 1880, either have no published marriage records, or those which have been published are not complete. The Foundation is especially interested in reviewing proposals for county marriage record publishing projects in these counties:
Appling, Bibb, Burke, Catoosa, Charlton, Chattooga, Clinch, Dade, DeKalb, Douglas, Early, Echols, Effingham, Franklin, Gilmer, Glynn, Handcock, Hart, Heard, Jackson, Laurens, Lincoln, Marion, McIntosh, Miller, Muscogee, Polk, Putnam, Quitman, Rabun, Randolph, Richmond, Screven, Twiggs, Union, Upson, Walker, White.
Cemetery Projects
The Foundation is especially interested in reviewing proposals for countywide cemetery publications for the following Georgia counties:
Atkinson, Berrien, Bibb, Brooks, Bryan, Candler, Chatham, Chattooga, Colquitt, Crawford, Crisp, Decatur, DeKalb, Echols, Fulton, Gilmer, Glascock, Glynn, Hancock, Lanier, Liberty, Lumpkin, Morgan, Muscogee, Peach, Pike, Pulaski, Putnam, Rabun, Richmond, Rockdale, Ware.
Deed Projects
The following Georgia counties have had substantial loss of early deed records. Many early deeds have been re-recorded in the first several deed books subsequent to the loss, and those books would contain many deeds prior to the loss. Deed abstracts for any of these counties would be especially valuable in revealing deed records:
Baker, Baldwin, Burke, Colquitt, Dade, DeKalb, Dooly, Emanuel, Gwinnett, Heard, Marion, McIntosh, Paulding, Pierce, Randolph, Union, Walker, Ware, Washington, Wilkinson, Worth.
